Question:
Anybody know who or where to call
concerning Student Loan Forgiveness?
Looking for info for the Canada
and Ontario programs.
Answer:
Perhaps you should visit the nearest
prison, where other criminals who
swindle society are now living.
If you accept a loan, at least arrange
to repay it,particularly when you
get it from the taxpayers. Otherwise,
you are just another functionally
illiterate criminal. Personally,
I feel that there should be NO STUDENT
LOANS.
Either the
student works to earn the full tuition,or
he can work elsewhere, or just starve.
THere
is no forgiveness. However, if you're
poor, and are forced to default,
there's nothing they can do. Mr.
Acumen has obviously earned his
user name (not!). Basic finance
- a loan is an investment in an
uncertain future. If the future
goes sour, the loan is quite often
repaid at a reduced amount. This
works for businesses (just ask the
Reichmanns) so why should it not
work for individuals. One of the
best comments I heard was on a call-in
show where one person called in
and said that anyone who did not
repay their student loan should
be forced to give up their degree.
Five minutes later someone called
and said that they would gladly
give up their degree if they could
get rid of their student loan.
If you depend on ANYTHING that a
student produced or built that received
a loan from the BANK (the government
guarantees it bozo), then you have
no right offending so many people
by making such immature comments.
Doctors, lawyers, politicians, construction
workers, engineers, retail staff,
waiters, nurses, and a million other
occupations all have people that
took out loans to go to school.
If it was not for these individuals,
you would not be enjoying your life
as it is today. Your freenet account
is probably run by someone that
went to university or college that
took out a student loan. Your Software
Alberta Society has many members
that have received student loans.
Ever grow up in a single parent
income family and had a dream of
becoming something greater than
someone without a degree? A student
loan teaches people to be responsible.
A lot of students have had no experience
with credit and it is an awakening
for most (although rude after four
years of hard work). I e-mailed
your post to the Software Alberta
Society to see what they think of
your statements. Who knows, maybe
they will make you treasurer. Mike
Potter $20,000 in loans, never missed
a payment. I heard was on a
call-in show where one person called
in and said that anyone who did
not repay their student loan should
be forced to give up their degree.
That wouldn't likely work.
Once you've gotten an education,
they can't take that away from you.
If they try, there would be a mive
brain-drain in this country. I know
I wouldn't stick around. Pathetic
worthless rightoids. Gotta hate
'em. There is no forgiveness.
However, if you're poor, and are
forced to default, there's nothing
they can do. I believe there
is now. At least a friend of mine
in Nova Scotia had a large part
of his loan forgiven.
